DRIVING MARITIME DECARBONISATION
A Collective of Experts in Maritime Energy Transition

Our DNA
At Velic Consulting, we are convinced that the decarbonisation of shipping will only succeed through a balance of innovation, economic realism, and regulatory compliance.
Originally rooted in wind-assisted propulsion, we now cover the full spectrum of maritime decarbonisation, including:
- alternative energies and fuels,
- operational efficiency,
- onboard data and digital performance tools,
- environmental reporting and ESG,
- and compliance with emerging regulations such as EU ETS, FuelEU Maritime, and CII.
Our collective brings together experts from engineering, finance, operations, and sustainability to build actionable, measurable, and regulation-ready pathways for the maritime industry.
Our Services

Shipowners & Operators
We help you identify and prioritise the most relevant decarbonisation levers for your fleet:
- technology choices (wind, hybrid, alternative fuels, digital optimisation),
- economic modelling (CAPEX/OPEX, ETS exposure, cost avoidance),
- regulatory alignment (CII, FuelEU, MRV-DCS).
We design pragmatic environmental action plans and help you deploy them both onboard and ashore.

Neo’shipowners & Start-up Projects
We support the creation of innovative maritime ventures through:
- environmental governance structuring,
- private and public fundraising,
- sustainable business modelling and go-to-market strategy,
- technical development and project management.
Our goal: help new entrants build financially viable and environmentally credible shipping models.

Freighter / Charterer / Shippers / Logistics Players
We help you integrate carbon constraints into your logistics and procurement strategies:
- carbon footprint assessment of your transport flows,
- integration of ETS/FuelEU clauses into tenders and contracts,
- development of low-carbon partnerships with your carriers.
We turn regulatory obligations into competitive advantages.

Technology Providers & Innovators
We assist technology developers and solution providers in:
- business model structuring,
- early-adopter identification and sales acceleration,
- funding and innovation support programmes,
- regulatory and environmental compliance (type approval, certification).
Our role: to fast-track the credibility of your innovation in a fast-changing regulatory landscape.

Shipyard & Engineering Firms
We work with shipyards and naval architects to:
- integrate new propulsion or energy systems,
- reduce the environmental footprint of shipbuilding,
- anticipate upcoming EU requirements (FuelEU, EEXI, lifecycle assessment).
Our method: align innovation, industrial feasibility, and regulatory performance.

Institutions, Clusters & Investors
We support public and private stakeholders through strategic and policy-oriented work:
- sector and technology assessments,
- territorial and port decarbonisation studies,
- support for public programmes and policy design,
- ESG and impact evaluation.
Our team

Christophe BRIERE
Passionate about sailing since childhood, he is a mechanical engineer, with more than 13 years of professional experience, he has devoted his last 2 years to sailing propulsion, first through the development of a Low Carbon shipping company PolarSea / Selar, then via his firm Velic Consulting.
After an early career in design team for offshore racing and at the French Polar Institute. He then left for nearly 10 years at TotalEnergies, dealing with marine logistics, then the environment; before being overtaken by its need for impact and meaning, in the service of the maritime industry.
Louise CHOPINET
Initially a Doctor in Biophysics, Louise dedicated her professional activity to business financing and supporting entrepreneurs from 2015 after a master’s degree at Grenoble Ecole de Management. She allows dozens of projects to emerge while being funded (more than €13M raised at WiSEED).
Since 2020, she is fully dedicated to worked in the sailing transport sector, in particular for the shipping company Windcoop, of which she led the entire creation.
